“I say NO to corruption” ACT 2012 Art Competition
LASANAA alternative art space is organizing a nationwide anti-corruption themed art competition to mark UN anti-corruption day, 9th December.

We request submissions of creative works based on themes of tackling corruption in society. You can depict your own experiences of having to deal with corruption.
What can be done to reinforce SOCIAL INTEGRITY? How can we make people more ACCOUNTABLE? What is your STANCE towards corruption? BEYOND BRIBES, where else does corruption exist in our society? How does corruption affect our VALUE SYSTEMS? What happens to MORALITY and DIGNITY when we turn a blind eye to corruption? How does corruption disrupt SOCIAL JUSTICE and BASIC HUMAN RIGHTS?
The work may be in the form of an illustration, story board, comic strip/panel, or any other visual artwork.
- Participants must be Nepali Citizens of ages 18 to 30
- Language: English/ Nepali or any recognized language in Nepal may be used
- Work must be original, minimum size: 16 inches x 18 inches, any media [Pen, pencil, colour, etc]
- LASANAA reserves the right to use the artwork for publicity purposes
- The decision of the jury is final and binding
- Results will only be revealed on 9th December, 2012, during the inauguration of the exhibition.
An orientation session will take place on 12th November, Monday, 2:30 pm. The purpose of the orientation will be introduce participants on the basic concepts of corruption, global movement against corruption, UNCAC and UN Anti-Corruption Day, and the power of cartoons in anti-corruption campaigns including the display of corruption cartoons from other countries like Bangladesh, India, Nepal and other countries. There will be two parts in the orientation session. The first part will cover the issues just mentioned and the second part will inform participants on housekeeping aspects of the competition. These include criteria for inclusion, public display of cartoons, evaluation of art works etc. Dr. Narayan Manandhar, anti-corruption specialist will give presentation on the first part while Ashmina Ranjit will take up second part. Ashmina will also brief the participants on the objectives of the competition. The program will be of 2-3 hours with a tea break of 15 minutes in between. There will be power point presentation of the cartoons.

Best 3 works will be awarded Rs 15,000 each.
