LIVE ART HUB INAUGURATION
Thapathali, December 11, 2011 – LASANAA’s newly constructed Live Art Hub (LAH), located at the premises of Martin Chautari, is to be inaugurated this Monday, December 12, 2011. LASANAA Live Art Hub will be used for production, exhibition and dissemination of artworks and ideas as well as the site for interactions, workshops, film screenings, performances and other experimental modes of cultural production. LAH is not just an interactive space, or a living art piece, but also a “lab” – so dubbed at year’s International Glocalization Conference – a place to experiment and to try new art techniques. LASANAA Live Art Hub is open to everyone, and to every form of art; as LASANAA coordinator Ashmina says, “Everyone, from painters and performers, and writers to thinkers, are welcome.”
A platform for contemporary art, LASANAA has hosted various artistic and cultural events since its establishment in 2007, including National and International Workshops, Residencies, monthly Art Talks, regular film screenings, Art forums, Heritage Walks, and Special Art Programs.
LASANAA has striven to provide opportunities to national and international artists to develop their creative expressions, to bring about changes in society, and to promote activism, through its workshops, residencies and discourses. Its latest workshop Techne-kala, aimed for young artists and art educators, successfully explored the use of research in art, and the selected proposals are to be exhibited in the LAH in the last week of February.
The Ambassador of Denmark Mr. Morten Jespersen will inaugurate the program and distribute the LAH Grants to five Techne-kala-inspired art proposals’ authors. The two hour long program is scheduled to start at 3.00pm and includes performance art pieces by visual artists Jupiter Pradhan & Saurganga Darshandhari.
