Lasanaa ‘s attempt to always explore new territories and bridge gaps between contemporary art practices in Nepal and around the world. Hence this workshop to question the differences as well as similarities between art and fashion which always have been so closely associated.
This workshop is aiming to create a marriage between fashion and art and move both into a new direction and medium, thus creating a new platform for local artists and designers. In order to unleash the creativity of the participants, the use of unconventional media was a main focus of the workshop. Found objects from many different aspects of Nepali life were used as inspiration and material.
With the theme of women’s strength as the inspiration, this workshop coincides with the recent celebration of International Women’s Day. This is the first part of a dual workshop, with the continuation as part of the Nepal Indigenous International Film Festival, which has the theme of the strength of indigenous women. This film festival and the continuation of this workshop will take place at City Hall in Kathmandu from April 21-25.
